We ordered crispy chicken in peking sauce but this was chicken in a garlic sauce with just onions we called just to let them know but was told that this was correct🤷🏻‍♂️ the food has always been great and this is the first time we have been very disappointed and the service over the phone was not that great or well just another customer

It’s one of those classic local Chinese takeaways that many people grow up with — familiar, fast, and full of flavour. The menu is wide-ranging, with all the usual favourites like sweet and sour chicken, salt and pepper chips, beef in black bean sauce, and special fried rice. They also offer fish and chips and English dishes for families with mixed tastes, which is a nice touch. The food is always hot and fresh, and portion sizes are generous, offering good value for money. The salt and pepper range is especially tasty — well-seasoned and cooked just right. Service is usually quick, even on Friday evenings when it gets busy. The staff are polite and efficient, though it's mostly a takeaway-only interaction. Parking is available nearby and usually not a problem, and the shop is easy to find along Park Road. The interior is quite basic, but clean and well-lit. The only downside is that they don’t do delivery, so it’s collection only. That said, it’s worth the trip if you’re nearby. Golden City may not be gourmet, but it does exactly what it promises: good, hot food fast and for a reasonable price.

Great food, been here a few times and not been disappointed

Has been the only place around Sankey for the very best tasting food for years now. It’s super quick service, lovely staff. If I was trying hard to find a fault….very hard, it would be that it is cash only, not the biggest issue, but I always have no cash on me, these days… who does, so it’s a trek around to find a working ATM.

Really quality food always fresh and spot on, it’s pricey but you pay for quality and the portions are always big. Been going for years haven’t found another Chinese chippy that comes close so would rather spend a few quid extra

One of the most consistent Chinese takeaways in town! Make quite a few large orders for the night shift at work and every time it is correct with no issues, food is hot and delicious and always ready in usually 15/20 minutes. Also one of the only few places that sells tofu in town! The salt and pepper chips are mega, Would recommend every time.
